SOUTH WEST WOMEN'S GOLF ASSOCIATION
This was a new competition introduced in 2021. The format started as a team of four players, one from each County in the South West, each playing a medal round with the best 3 scores to count from 4. The 4th card coming into play if there was a tie for 1st place.
For 2026 it was agreed to extend the format to a team of 6 players with 4 out of 6 scores to count, the 5th and 6th scores coming into play in the event of a tie.
For 2027 we are pleased to announce that the format has been extended again to mirror the Mens SW Seniors Inter Counties competition and with the added bonus of it being granted qualifying status for the new Senior Women's National Finals being introduced in 2027. The format will be 2 x 18 hole medal rounds over 2 days with the best 4 or 5 (TBC) out of 6 scores to count.

Congratulations to this years winners - Somerset
Burnham & Berrow Golf Club hosted the competition this year and for the first time we were playing a slightly extended format of Teams of 6 with 4 out of 6 scores to count. The overcast skies cleared to reveal a lovely sunny afternoon but with 30mph winds that made the conditions very tough. Home advantage was clearly of great benefit to Somerset , with 5 of their 6 players all being members at Burham as they took the trophy with a total of 338 and a 5 point lead over Gloucestershire in 2nd place with 343. Dorset came 3rd with 348 points. Wilshire and Dorset tied on 353 points , narrowly piping Cornwall on 356 points.
Amanda Mayne from Salford GC took the best gross with a score of 78.
Many thanks go to Burnham & Berrow GC for allowing us to host this competition on a course that was in great condition and to Somerset President Janet Fear and Vice President (and Seniors Captain) Alysia Rees for their superb organisation before and on the day.
We look forward to the next stage in the competition which will be held at Wrag Barn GC in Wiltshire on 19th/20th July 2027 where the winning side will go forward to the new Senior Women's National finals at Thetford GC on 25-27 August 2027
